Borobudur temple
Borobudur temple is a budhist temple in Indonesia. It was build in the nineth century under Sailendra dynasty of ancient Mataram kingdom. Borobudur is located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. (identification)

     Borobudur  is well-known all over the world. Its construction is influenced by the Gupta architecture of India. The temple is constructed on a hill 46 m high and consist of eight step like stone terrace. The first five terrace are square and surrounded by walls adorned with Budist sculpture in bas-relief. The upper three are circular. Each of them is with a circle of bell shape-stupa. The entire adifice is crowned by a large stupa at the centre at the centre of the top circle. The way to the summit extends through some 4.8 km of passage and starways. The design of borobudur which symbolizes the structure of universe influences temples at Angkor, Cambodia. Borobudur temple which is rededicated as an Indonesian monument in 1983 is a valuable treasure for Indonesian people. (description)




ROHAN AND THE DRAGON

Once upon a time, there lived a young man named Rohan who was only four feet tall. Other young men and women always made fun of how short he was. Even though he was short, this young man was kind and smart. He never got offended or mad when people made fun of his short body.
One day, a terrible dragon came to the kingdom and burned every thing on his path. Many knights tried to kill this monster but they always failed. The dragon was too strong for any kind of weapon.
The king declared he would reward whoever could kill the dragon. If the slayer was a man, he could marry the princess. If the slayer was a woman, the king would adopt her as his own daughter. Many poeple came from all over the world trying to kill the dragon but none succeeded.
Rohan was interested in joining the competition but he knew he would not be able to compete with all the strong knights. He decided to learn everything he possibly could about the dragon. He spent many days and night in the kingdom library, studying everything in the archives about dragons. He discovered that dragons slept after their late- night adventures, Rohan suddenly had a plan.

The Story of Lorojonggrang

Once upon a time, there was a prince named Bondowoso. He was famous for his powerful weapon, called Bandung. Therefore, Bondowoso was called Bandung Bondowoso. Bandung Bondowoso fell in love with a beautiful princess, Lorojonggrang. He wanted to marry her but she was not interested in him. Lorojonggrang was afraid to refuse his proposal because Bandung Bondowoso would destroy her kingdom if she refused.
To make things difficult for Bandung Bondowoso to marry her, Lorojonggrang gave some requirements. She asked him to build her one thousand temples within one night. Bandung Bondowoso had to finish them before sunrise. Without doubt of his success, he accepted the requirements.
With the help of genies and spirits, Bandung Bondowoso almost built ine thousand temples. It was amazing how fast Bandung Bondowoso and his allies built the temples. At four o’clock in the morning, Bandung Bondowoso had only five more temples to build. Lorojonggrang got panic because she knew he would complete the task.
